One of the more unusual grape varieties to come out of Germany, the highly aromatic Scheurebe grape produces full-bodied wines that can range from dry through to sweet. To celebrate the grape’s 100th birthday since the first vines of Scheurebe were planted, the German Gymnasium and Wines of Germany are hosting a Scheurebe discovery session. The Curious? festival is back again this summer and will see visitors to King’s Cross getting inquisitive at the hugely popular free festival of knowledge and learning. Featuring a fusion of science, art and culture, King’s Cross will come alive with interactive events, including a chance to exercise your taste-buds with a German wine tasting on the Vine Terrace at grade II listed restaurant, German Gymnasium – the first stop on the Curious? tour.
German Gymnasium’s team of top sommeliers, in partnership with Wines of Germany, will be showcasing a selection of delicious German wines from this year’s Top 50 Wines of Germany presented to you along with fascinating wine facts to quench your thirst for knowledge. Explore a wonderful variety of German Riesling and Pinots and learn more about the country’s diverse regions, grapes and wines. Six wines will be available for you to taste on the day, including the Johann Wolf Pinot Noir from Waitrose stores, and the crisp and clean Devil’s Rock Riesling, available from the Co-Op.
