German Wines On Tour: Check out what we’ve been up to recently

It has been a busy few months for Wines of Germany.

Our annual Top of The Crops competition took place in February, shining a spotlight on some of the best German wine in the UK and German wine seeking representation. The winners were showcased on our Berlin Bar at the London Wine Fair this May.

2019 has seen the launch of Wines of Germany’s ‘Somm Sessions’ which bring together sommeliers across the country to look at different styles and aspects of German wine, all hosted by award-winning sommelier Jan Konetski. The first of these sessions kicked off at Hide in London, focussing on German Riesling.

Next up was our Berlin Takeover of Silo in Brighton, ‘German Wine Gets Experimental’, in which we hosted some of the best sommeliers in the south east and showcased a funky selection of low-intervention German wines. Our Silo partnership continued into the evening for wine lovers from the south, with Wines of Germany and Silo creating a bespoke banquet menu paired with some of the best organic, low-intervention wines that Germany has to offer.

To drum up regional awareness of our #31DaysofGermanRiesling campaign, we have been on the road to Manchester and Edinburgh, hosting tastings to give a chance for the trade to meet with importers before 31 Days begins and try some of the fantastic Rieslings on offer!

In May, we hosted The Big G 2019, Wines of Germany’s trade and consumer tasting, at Somerset House. Featuring a dedicated Sekt Bar, 31 Rieslings dispensed directly from enomatics, wine walks and tasting workshops and awesome street food from KERB vendors to pair with the wines. It was a huge success – look out 2020!

Not forgetting London Wine Week, where we served up some of the coolest wines on earth in the twinkly Winerama rooftop bar at Dinerama, with German wine flights and magnums of Riesling galore.

Didn’t manage to catch us at any of these events? Fear not – we’ve still got a lot coming for the rest of the year. Watch this space.
