Germany’s Winning Wines 2023 – Winners

Germany’s Winning Wines, a collection of the very best German wines available in the UK at the moment, is back and better than ever in 2023.

Wines of Germany was joined by nine MW students, representing a cross section of the wine trade, to select Germany’s Winning Wines 2023. Our judges blind tasted almost 200 wines over the course of the day, looking at the price-quality ratio, typicity and the character of each wine.

The final selection of Winning Wines represents the dynamism and high calibre of German wine in the UK market.

This year’s line-up particularly showcases the Pinot varieties – which Germany continues to excel at producing. Judges noted excellent typicity and well-judged use of oak among the Pinot Noirs, as well as precision in the Pinot Blancs. Dry Riesling, from easy fridge-door styles to more complex, premium, occasion wines, also stood out to judges.
